Ishibotoke, Usuki

It is said that the national treasure Usukiishi Buddha (Cliff Buddha), represented by the statue of Dainichi Nyorai, was carved from the late Heian period to the Kamakura period. It is not clear who built it for what purpose, and it is still surrounded by many mysteries.
It is a group of stone Buddhas representing Japan in terms of size and quantity and high quality of sculpture.
The adjacent Stone Buddha Park is full of seasonal flowers. Above all, from July to August, large lotus flowers are in full bloom, and the appearance seems to be paradise.
