Ishibotoke, Usuki
It is said that the national treasure Usuki Stone Buddha (Cliff Buddha), represented by the statue of Dainichi Nyorai, was carved from the end of the Heian period to the Kamakura period. It is not clear who built it for what purpose, and it is still surrounded by many mysteries.
It is a group of stone Buddhas representing Japan in its scale and quantity, and in the high quality of sculpture.
Seasonal flowers bloom in the adjacent Ishibutsu Park. Above all, from July to August, large lotus flowers are in full bloom, and the appearance seems to be paradise.
