"Musubibito" Profile

Toriko Toyoshima (Toyoshima): Born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Beppu City, Oita Prefecture
Kiriko Toshima, who grew up in Beppu, grew up in an environment where hot springs are always in their daily lives, and since he was a student, he has been familiar with Tetsuwa Onsen, a school road. While visiting Kannawa Onsen, I noticed that there were hot springs with different spring quality in the same area, and interest in hot springs grew steadily and began to be absorbed. I want more people to know about Kannawa Onsen! I want you to enjoy the hot springs more! I started a guide from the feeling of feeling, and I convey the charm of Tetsurin with the love of hot springs that still overflows.

Walking around the back alley of Tetsuwa Onsen Town

Take a stroll with Toshima-san at Kannawa Onsen, one of the "Beppu Hachiyu", which is also famous as a hot spring resort. We will guide you through Hiratagawa, which has turned green due to the ingredients of the hot spring, and Yumetake, a device that cools the source naturally, recommended hot spring spots, and hot spring tours unique to the local area. You can learn about the history of Kannawa Onsen and the effects of hot springs while visiting the back alleys of the hot spring town where hot springs rise.

Kannawa Onsen "Mushiyu" experience

It is said that steamed hot water was founded in 1276 in the Kamakura period by a monk, Ippen Shonin.
A medicinal herb called "Sekisho" lies on the floor covered with a medicinal herb in a stone room warmed by the fountain of the hot spring, steaming the whole body. While feeling the refreshing scent of Iris, it warms the body from the core and encourages sweating. It is an experience that can be done only because the hot spring of iron ring is a hot boiling spring.

Traditional cooking methods from the Edo period: hot spring "Hell steamed"

For a long time, Beppu calls dangerous places where hot spring fumes, hot mud, hot water, etc. erupts are called "hell", and the cooking method using hot spring steam is called "hell steaming".
In the "Hell Steaming" experience, you can add your favorite ingredients such as seafood and meat to bamboo zaru, which contains vegetables. Put the bamboo zaru with ingredients in the pot as it is, steamed with steam at about 100 ° C in about 8 to 10 minutes, and enjoy the hell steamed lunch.
