Kiriko Toyoshima (Kiriko Toyoshima): Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture
Kiriko Toshima, who grew up in Beppu, grew up in an environment where hot springs are always in life, and has been familiar with the Tetsuwa Onsen town, a school road since he was a student. While visiting Kannawa Onsen, I noticed that there were hot springs with different spring quality in the same area, and my interest in hot springs grew steadily and became absorbed in it. I want more people to know Kannawa Onsen! I want you to enjoy the hot spring more! I started the guide with that feeling, and conveyed the charm of the iron ring with the hot spring love that still overflows.

Take a stroll with Toshima through Kannawa Onsen, which is also famous as a hot spring resort, one of the "Beppu Yatsuyu". We will introduce you to Hiratagawa, which has turned green due to the components of the hot spring, and Yumetake, a device that cools the source naturally, recommended hot spring spots, and tours of hot springs unique to the local area. You can learn about the history of Kannawa Onsen and the effects of hot springs while visiting the back alleys of the hot spring town where the steam rises.
Kannawa Onsen "Mushiyu" experience
It is said that steamed hot water was founded in 1276 in the Kamakura period by a monk, Ippen Shonin.
It lays on a floor filled with medicinal herbs called "sekisho" in a stone room warmed by the fume of the hot spring, and steams the whole body. It warms the body from the core and stimulates sweating while feeling the refreshing scent of irises. It is an experience that can only be done because the hot spring of the iron ring is a hot spring.
A hot spring called "Jigokumushi" which is a traditional cooking method from the Edo period.
For a long time, Beppu has called dangerous places where hot spring fumaroons, hot muds, hot water, etc. erupts are called "hell", and the cooking method using hot spring steam is called "hell steam".
In the "hell steaming" experience, you can choose and add your favorite ingredients, such as seafood and meat, to bamboo zaru with vegetables. Put the bamboo zaru containing the ingredients in the pot as it is, steam it with a steam of about 100 ° C in about 8 to 10 minutes, and enjoy the hell steamed lunch.
